Studying the ecology of the world’s smallest tortoise in South Africa

During the spring of 2002 I had the opportunity to volunteer as a research assistant in Victor Loher’s PhD dissertation project on the ecology of Homopus signatus, the world’s smallest tortoise. I spent a couple of months in South Africa’s Namakwaland region.
